Andar Goes to FIME
Last week was the annual FIME convention at the Miami Beach Convention Center, and all of us at Andar were happy to take the trip out of the office to beautiful Miami Beach. FIME is host to over 1,000 exhibitors (you can find a complete list on their website, http://www.fimeshow.com) from countries all across the globe. Many of the exhibiting manufacturers hail from all over Asia and parts of South America so the event is quite an international affair.
Jessica, Kieran, and Steven attended the show on the opening day, spending hours walking around the convention center’s 4 city blocks worth of exhibition space. The rest of us were able to escape the office the following day and check out the hype for ourselves. What a spread it was! We loved being able to see some familiar faces like Irma and Kim at Integra, MJ from Choongwae, and Jose from Quantum. We were able to meet a lot of new people from exciting lines such as William from VG Med and Ping of Analogic. Chatting with the lovely people of Sol-Med was a pleasure, too.
We were able to see a variety of interesting products spread over 500,000 square feet in just a few hours. I was even able to test out a fascinating piece of fitness equipment. See for yourself!
Some of our out of town friends were able to stop by the Andar headquarters here in Miami while visiting for the FIME show. We always love having visitors by! Kelly from Newport made a visit as well as James and Eddie all the way from CGM in Taiwan. Anna and Darren took the opportunity to introduce them to Cuban cuisine.
Presenting the New Welch Allyn 1500 Patient Monitor
Welch Allyn debuted their exciting new 1500 Patient Monitor last November at Germany's Medica 2010 Trade Fair. This model is the company's first comprehensive bedside monitoring solution, designed to enhance clinical decision making and improve patient safety utilizing its intuitive monitoring solution and easy to use options and features.
Designed with operating modes for adult, pediatric, and neonate patients, this model combines all best-in-class continuous vital sign parameters including:
- 12-lead diagnostic ECG measurements with the option to add diagnostic class interpretation
- On-board Mortara arrhythmia and ST segment analysis
- Oridion Microstream capnography technology
- Nellcor Oximax Pulse Oximetry
- Noninvasive blood pressure compatible with Welch Allyn FlexiPort cuff technology
- Temperature
- Heart rate and pulse rate
- Two invasive blood pressure lines
- Respiration
- 24-hour trending with one-minute sampling rate for a longer trending memory with greater granularity
- On-board thermal printer allows for printing of patient information, selected parameter trends, or all stored trends and 12-lead ECG measurements and interpretation
- Lithium-ion battery for longer operation, short recharging time, and a low-toxicity battery solution
Monitor
- View up to 5 waveforms at once on the 15-inch color LCD display, the largest in its class.
- Screen has a 170 degree viewing angle both vertically and horizontally allowing clinicians to see patient data clearly from anywhere in the hospital room.
- Monitor has a compact depth with a 3-inch deep footprint allowing it to be placed almost anywhere without disruption.
Software
- Majority of functionality can be accessed in one menu level, allowing for ease of use and time savings.
- Provides three operating modules – adult, pediatric, and neonate – giving you the flexibility to use one monitor safely and effectively with all patients.
- Labels contain symbols instead of words for quick recognition, reduced errors, and improved patient safety.
